| Nathalie's contract ending April 2011. |
Wednesday we were all watching non stop our corporate emails. Some waiting for their good and others waiting for the bad. I was glancing at Nathalie. She was starring at her emails and finally she got it - We are sorry to inform you that your contract is not extended. Nathalie was in shock and devastated. She was seriously affected by the bad news. Based on company needs and not on performance some people didn't get their contract extended. Nathalie always exceeded expectations and thought that it would have an impact on the decision making. Obviously it didn't.
Join the ranks of the unemployed is not exactly a feel-good event. You don't need a study to tell you that. Nathalie says:"I lost one pound since last week, I lost a tiny bit in white cell count number, I lost my appetite, I lost my job and I lost my good spirit that helped me keep going through this cancer journey".
Nathalie's struggle with the medical bills is obviously more important than before. On top of that some studies found that loosing a job triggers serious physical and physiological illness. Nathalie is starting her second round of chemo therapy Friday March 4th at Dominican Hospital located in Santa Cruz.
On her blog she says: " This week was particularly tough, especially on the emotional side. I have been fed up about a lot of things: the continuous nausea, the weird radiation side effects, the weight gain struggle, the difficulty to maintain my red cell count at a normal rate, the numerous medical appointments and work. I am tired of feeling ill, tired to not being appreciated for who I am really, tired about a lot of things.I know I have to find motivation for going through the next round of chemo. This will be the most difficult challenge to overcome. If, at least, I would have a glimpse of hope somewhere…"
